AIA Southern Arizona’s Women in Architecture and Committee on the Environment (COTE) came together on Saturday, September 26, to volunteer with Tucson Clean & Beautiful and make a lasting impact on the built environment. By planting trees in Tucson’s Rosemont West neighborhood, our group contributed to expanding the urban tree canopy, strengthening community spaces, and supporting Mayor Romero’s Tucson Million Trees initiative.
Together, our group helped plant 108 new trees, creating a lasting investment in the neighborhood’s environmental health and quality of life. As these trees mature, they will provide shade, reduce urban heat, improve air quality, support local wildlife, and create more comfortable, welcoming outdoor spaces for residents. These benefits are especially important in Tucson, where extreme heat and climate change make access to shade and green spaces essential to building more resilient communities.
