Arizona Kids Build
Arizona Kids Build is a program for elementary school students in third, fourth, and fifth grades in the Metro Phoenix area culminating in participants building scale models of their own ideal shelters. The program helps students understand the necessary elements required in designing a human shelter in the desert environment. Students learn how to think about the structures they interact with every day and consider ways to improve them. This process incorporates math, science, art, communication, and language skills. Professional volunteers in the Phoenix area are always welcome.

Canstruction
Canstruction is a global competition where teams of architects, engineers, construction firms, and students compete to create giant structures made entirely from canned food and win prizes in the categories of Best Original Design, Best Meal, Best Use of Labels, and Structural Ingenuity. After the event, all food is donated to a local food bank. Both AIA Phoenix Metro and AIA Southern Arizona chapters host competitions.

Kidstruction
Kidstruction is a design-build competition for Tucson middle school students. To compete, teams from Southern Arizona’s schools design and build structures using only business cards, toothpicks, and glue. The structures are judged by local prominent members of the architecture and design community. Professional volunteers in the Tucson area are always welcome.

AIA continuing education (CE) is recognized as the AEC industry’s best learning. Virtual, in-person, and peer-to-peer education opportunities make it easy to invest in yourself, on your schedule, and earn HSW, ADA, GBCI, RIBA, and AIA LU credits. AIA makes courses available via AIAU.

AIA Fellows
AIA Fellows are recognized with the AIA’s highest membership honor for their exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society. Architects who have made significant contributions to the profession and society and who exemplify architectural excellence can become a member of the AIA College of Fellows. Only 3% of the AIA members have this distinction. Each year, the deadline is in fall to submit a nomination for Fellowship. New Fellows are recognized in a ceremony at the AIA national conference.
