John Kane, FAIA, is a founding partner and design principal with Architekton, an architecture studio in Tempe, AZ. His designs are respected throughout the Southwest as a paradigm for an appropriate and sustainable architecture. He is integral in maintaining Architekton’s culture of creating award winning projects that optimize urban desert sites, consistently adhering to a rigorous architectural vocabulary that acknowledges issues of place involving climate, the physical and cultural landscape. He is a leader in the creation of sustainable, collaborative based projects including higher education, community centers, health/recreation centers, transportation centers, civic architecture, community amenities and urban/campus master planning. John currently serves on the NOVUS Design Review Board in Tempe.
Originally from southern California, he moved to Arizona 40 years ago where he fell in love with the desert’s unique environment and inherent beauty. John lives in Tempe with his wife, Pam, and he has two daughters, Katlyn and Madelyn.
