President-elect, AIA Arizona
Elizabeth McLean, AIA, is an Associate Principal with Ayers Saint Gross in Tempe and Instructor at The Design School at Arizona State University. Recognized for leadership in design, planning, education, and service to the profession, Elizabeth received the AIA Young Architects Award in 2022. Elizabeth’s commitment to service leadership builds bridges across generations through her dedication to teaching and mentorship, most notably through her longstanding commitment to The Design School, AIA Phoenix Metro, and AIA Arizona.
Elizabeth listens first, and prioritizes an interdisciplinary, collaborative, and innovative design process. By promoting dialogue across diverse groups of community members, she fosters a process that reflects the values of the communities she serves and creates opportunities to gather collective ideas and to empower others to share them. She believes our profession has the great opportunity to align our concerns with our unique influence, through design. In her leadership roles with AIA Arizona, Elizabeth strives to cultivate strategy and process to impact practice, projects, and people with her vision for holistic design, advocacy for equity, and commitment to advance the profession.
