Kathy Hancox

Kathy Hancox, AIA, is a principal in the Tucson-based practice HK Associates with her husband and partner in practice, Michael Kothke, AIA. Together, they design award-winning residences throughout the Southwest. Hancox was the 2022 president of AIA Arizona, and served on the AIA Arizona board from 2021 to 2023. At the national level, Kathy was the 2023-2025 AIA Arizona representative to the AIA Strategic Council where she had a powerful voice in national conversations about the future of practice, particularly regarding design and the evolving role of artificial intelligence in our profession. She helped steer meaningful dialogue on how technology can elevate design, strengthen ethical practice, and expand opportunity. And just as importantly, she brought those insights home, engaging AIA Arizona in thoughtful, grounded discussions that help Arizona architects navigate these changes with clarity and confidence. Her leadership continues to shape both our local and national trajectory.
