AIA Phoenix Metro AIA10 Conversation Series: Shaping the Architectural Workforce Session 2
Join us online Wednesday, November 4 at 12 Noon, for the second session of a three-part Conversation Series focused on shaping the architectural workforce, presented by AIA Phoenix Metro AIA10.
The Value of an Architect. This session will explore what makes architecture a rewarding and sustainable career, and how firms and the broader AEC industry can attract, develop, and retain talented professionals. Through perspectives from small and large firms, HR leaders, and contractors, the conversation will consider how we can look beyond compensation to examine what attracts people to architecture, what keeps them engaged, and what can make a career in the profession meaningful and sustainable. The conversation will explore the different advantages and challenges of firm size, as well as the broader employee experience—from culture, mentorship, career growth, professional development, flexibility, benefits, licensure support, and work-life balance to opportunities to lead, create, and collaborate.
Moderated by Sarah Potzler, AIA, Senior Architect at Shepley Bulfinch, the panel will include:
- Brianne Houtz, Human Resources Manager at SmithGroup
- Diane Jacobs, FAIA, Principal at Holly Street Studio
- Ben Perrone, AIA, Project Director at SUNDT Construction
