Associates

Associate members are those who meet one of the following criteria: hold a professional degree in architecture; currently work under the supervision of an architect; are currently enrolled in the Architectural Experience Program (AXP) and working toward licensure; or faculty member in a university program in architecture.

In both AIA Phoenix Metro and AIA Southern Arizona chapters, Associate members organize a variety of activities, including educational talks, panel discussions, and social gatherings. In spring, AIA Arizona Associate members produce an annual Associate Gathering—a mini conference focused on emerging professionals. See highlights of this event in the stories, below.

In the AIA Arizona Design Awards program, the Associates Award honors achievements of an Associate member.

In addition, Associate members should be aware that AIA Arizona has funding available to fully cover ARE exam fees for those who have successfully completed an ARE exam within the past 6 months. Limit three exam reimbursements in a 12-month period per person. This exam reimbursement benefit is only available to current Associate members who have joined or renewed for 2025. Email for more information on how to receive reimbursement.

Visit this page to join as an Associate. For new graduates of architecture degree programs, Associate membership is free for the first 18 months after graduation.
