Foothills Office Façade is an exterior remodel of an existing 1984 office building. Located in a transitional site, bridging light commercial to single family residential uses, the 14,500 SF building had become dated and tired. The owner, a local real estate developer, was looking to move their offices to the second floor, lease out the first floor and update the building to amplify the mission, values and beliefs of the company.

The design looked to solve several problems with the existing building. First, a new entry façade was developed to create a more inviting and approachable procession into the site from the road. With a desire to highlight the second floor, where the owners occupied the building, a perforated floating scrim was designed to unfold as you move through the project. Additionally, the scrim shades the south façade and mediates the light where it passes over windows. Custom perforated panels with a custom color create an ever-changing light and shadow play during the day. Lastly, the building expresses the commitment to craft, technical expertise, sustainability and elegance that the company works to create. Instead of making an aesthetic stance for the company it serves as a framework for its many operations.
