As the world’s second-largest medical technology company, the tenant advances the world of health by improving medical discovery, diagnostics, and the delivery of care. They help sustain life with their devices, including stents, catheters, and artificial veins. When designing their workplace, we wanted to celebrate the contours of the human body by creating an ease of flow using soft edges and angles to push you through the space. Coming from a decentralized office structure with user groups located in multiple buildings, we focused on creating a vertical campus that connects people and transforms how they work, interact, collaborate and innovate.
Core components of this strategy include neighborhoods, neighborhood hubs, working intersections (utilizing the spaces between the neighborhoods), a work zone and social hubs. To further connect people, an internal stair was designed between two floors. Each floor was laid out with some consistency for ease of wayfinding and to ensure equity in the types of social and amenity spaces. A full-service cafeteria, Starbucks, gym, yoga room, and expansive outdoor space were provided to celebrate their staff’s life-changing work. The success of this project lies in the hands of a diverse and collaborative team. As a new ground-up building, we worked with the building architects, landscape architects, and engineers to provide a highly customized tenant experience that flows from the interior to the exterior.
