About the Firm:
DUST designs and delivers cultural, civic, and residential projects that are deeply rooted in place. The studio is known for its thoughtful approach to specific sites, users, cultures, and natural environments. DUST approaches each project with a meticulous articulation of craft, construction, and materials, as well as a strong philosophical and poetic engagement with architectural space and the human experience.
Founded in 2007, DUST is based in Tucson, Arizona, and led by Cade Hayes, Jesús Edmundo Robles, Jr., and Natalia Zieman Hayes. The studio's work includes cultural buildings and nature centers throughout the American Southwest, ecologically sensitive hospitality projects in Aruba and Saudi Arabia, and residences and resorts in West Texas, Utah, New Mexico, and Southern California.
DUST's projects have been published widely, including in the New York Times, Architectural Record, and Architectural Review. The studio has received several Jeff Harnar Awards for Contemporary Design in the Southwest, multiple AIA awards at the national and chapter level, and has been named by Forbes as one of the country's top 200 architects
