Bridging Academic Theory and Practice: An AIA Arizona COTE Workshop

Join us on Tuesday, September 22 for an interactive workshop that brings current ASU sustainability research into conversation with built environment professionals. Presented by the AIA Arizona Committee on the Environment (COTE), the workshop offers an opportunity to engage directly with researchers and explore how emerging ideas in sustainability can inform and advance practice.

Attendees will hear from ASU faculty and PhD researchers whose work spans multiple scales of the built environment, from building design and performance to urban systems and infrastructure. Following the presentations, participants will break into small groups led by ASU researchers to explore a critical question: How can we move promising research from the university into the real world?

Together, we’ll examine the challenges associated with translating research into professional practice and identify opportunities to overcome barriers, build stronger connections between academia and industry, and advance more sustainable approaches to the built environment.

Confirmed Featured ASU Researchers include:

  • Dr. Dave White, School of Sustainability
  • Dr. Mikhail Chester, School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment
  • Matteus Porto, PhD Student, School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment
  • Susannah Montgomery, Assoc. AIA, PhD Student, School of Sustainability
