Pima County Northwest Service Center Tour and Presentation

All are welcome to attend the AIA Southern Arizona tour and presentation of the Pima Country Northwest Service Center on June 26 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. This tour will be eligible for 1.0 LU from AIA.

Presenters include:

  • Martyn Klell, AIA, Pima County Project Design & Construction
  • Paul Pena, AIA, Lloyd Construction
  • Henry Tom, FAIA, Line and Space

About the space:

Consolidating multiple Pima County service offices, the new 39,000 sf. Northwest Service Center provides a more convenient and efficient facility for both visitors and staff. The facility includes a public health clinic, Health and Food Safety inspection areas and testing, adult education and youth employment services, large public meeting rooms, conference rooms, as well as staff offices and open workspaces.

The Center replaces the Golden Pin Lanes bowling alley that once stood on the site. Historic elements of the previous occupants were preserved, such as the Golden Pin Lanes marquee sign, and the basalt rock wall which defines the new entry plaza. A large roof plane shades the plaza, extending the usability of exterior space, and providing a connection to the west for a future project on the site. The broad roof also shades the facilities walls and windows protecting it from the harsh summer sun. Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows provide abundant daylight at the facility’s interior and a strong connection to the outdoors.

This tour is FREE for all AIA Members. Non-members can register for $10.
