State Conference
AIA Arizona’s 2008 State Conference will be happening on September 11, 2008 from 8:00AM to 7:00PM at The Buttes Resort in Tempe, Arizona. The event will address the future of the architecture profession. Architects and people from affiliated professions will be in attendance.
More specifically, the conference will focus on changing practice models within the profession and the need to think differently about what it means to be an architect today and into the future. The State Conference Committee was inspired by James Cramer’s book, “The Next Architect, a New Twist on the Future of Design” and by a symposium held at the Cranbrook Academy of Art June 28-July 1, 2007 titled “Integrated Practice and the Twenty-first Century Curriculum.” The conference theme continues to explore ideas introduced by the very successful 2007 State Conference which defined paradigm shifts in project delivery.
Topics for discussion include:
• How will the newest generation of Architects practice?
• What impact will generational conflict have on the profession?
• Who is leading positive change within the industry?
• What is the future of architectural education?
• How do these changes affect the economics of practice?
