Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary ArtThe national Flip a Strip architectural competition-SMoCA’s innovative project challenging architects to dream up ways to adapt, re-vamp and/or renovate small-scale postwar strip shopping plazas that line the streets of this metropolitan area (and virtually every suburban zone in the country)- is only one month away from deadline. Interested participants still have until March 31, 2008 to enter. Competition finalists will also have an opportunity to have their ideas featured in the pursuant fall Flip a Strip exhibition at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. ”

Next in ASU SALA Lecture Series Monica Bertolino is an architect from the National University of Córdoba (unc), Argentina. She has established a professional practice with partner Carlos Barrado in the studio Bertolino-Barrado. She is Professor of Architecture in the UNC and the Catholic University of Córdoba. Some of her most renowned works are the Farm Pavilions, the Public Space Recovery Program and The Botanical Garden for the City of Córdoba, and other public spaces in Las Varillas. She has lectured and exhibited her work in Brazil, Chile, Argentina, South Africa, Italy, among others. Won the Vitruvius Prize of Architecture in Buenos Aires in 2000, had an honorable mention at the International Biennal Quito 2002.
