| DISCOVERY CHANNEL IS LOOKING FOR YOU! |
|
Help Host “Hidden Cities”The Discovery Channel is looking for people in a variety of career fields who would be interested in being a host on the new show, “Hidden Cities,” and they feel that members of AIA would be a perfect fit. They are looking for anyone who is involved in the fields of infrastructure; architects, civil engineers, contractors or urban planners, etc. They don’t need an expert in every area, just someone who loves what they do.“Hidden Cities” will explore the vast and often invisible machinery that allows modern metropolises to function like clockwork. From how water makes its way to your tap, to how commuter systems work, it will all be covered.
If you’re interested in this opportunity email the Casting Producer, Alissa Haight Carlton at hiddencitiescasting@yahoo.com or call at 323-284-5162. |
| WATERLESS URINALS |
|
Does the 2006 Uniform Plumbing Code Allow Installation? No it doesn’t. There is an “exception” to Section 601.1 that has been misconstrued by some who believed the exception included waterless urinals. In reality the exception to Section 601.1 addresses secondary fixtures such as floor sinks, trough drains, and other fixtures that, by virtue of the limitations of their usage do not require a dedicated water source in order to maintain a sanitary condition. Section 405.2 of the 2006 UPC specifically prohibits the installation of urinals with walls that are “not thoroughly washed at each discharge.”Taken in combination it is evident that waterless urinals would not be included under the exception to Section 601.1. Urinals are requires by the Plumbing Code to have a water-sealed trap, and to be plumbed with water so they can be flushed in order to maintain them in a sanitary condition. |
