COMEDY NIGHT WITH DANA CARVEY  
Dana CarveyTo Benefit Master of Real Estate Development Scholarships (MRED) You might remember Dana Carvey from the comedy hot spot SNL and/or Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, but now you can catch him doing comedy for great causes such as raising money for MRED scholarships. Hosted by NAIOP and ASU’s College of Design, this benefit will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at ASU’s Gammage Auditorium.

ECONOMIC OUTLOOK 2008, SEPTEMBER 20

SOLAR 2008 CAll FOR ENTRIES  
SolarNational Solar Energy Conference AIA’s Committee on the Environment (COTE) is a participating organization for Solar 2008 and has been for many years. Our greatest contribution to the solar conference has been intellectual — by providing extensive content and numerous participants. According to the COTE representatives and many of our SBSE friends and others who attended, last year’s conference was energizing and well attended.

San Diego will likely be one of the biggest and most diverse groups yet…Check out the website and submit a paper or proposal. Deadline for submissions is October 8, 2007. The Solar conference will be held May 3-8, 2008.

10th ANNUAL GREEN BUILDING EXPO  
Volunteers Needed trash This year’s Green Building Expo requires over 100 volunteers! Exhibitors have increased since last year and more than 7,000 participants are expected. If you’re able to give a block of time during the expo or if you’re able to help setup at 6:00 PM on Friday, October 15th the Volunteer Committee would great appreciate it. To show their appreciation, there will be a big party for all of the volunteers on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at 6:00 PM-8:30 PM.

The expo will be held at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts from Friday, October 5, 2007 to Saturday, October 6, 2007. For more information on volunteering or just attending visit www.greenbuildingexpo.com

TahoeDesigning, Transforming and Building a Future AIA Northern Nevada will be hosting this year’s Western Mountain Region Conference on September 12th-15th, 2007 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. The conference is right around the corner so make sure to register online asap. If you want to get out of the heat and enjoy cool breezes this is hard to beat. Not to mention, earn CEU credits and go hiking amongst the Alpines afterwards. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!

ANNUAL CONSTRUCTION AWARDS COMPETITION  
Southwest ContractorOnly Two Weeks Until the Deadline! Southwest Contractor is seeking outstanding construction projects located in Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada for the publication’s annual Best of 2007 competition. Winners will be featured in the December issue of Southwest Contractor, and will be honored in the 5th Annual awards banquet in December. There is no entry fee and no limit to how many projects a firm can submit. An independent panel of judges from the industry will select winners based on the project’s innovation, contribution to the industry and community, challenges overcome and overall excellence of design and construction.
