WILLIAM A. ZAHNER, HON. AIA
ZahnerKeynote Speaker for State ConferenceWilliam Zahner’s work centers around the importance of collaboration between the designer and the specialty fabricator | contractor in order to achieve artistic excellence — an interaction made more efficient with digital definition and corresponding digital communication processes.William is the president of A. Zahner Metals in Kansas City, Missouri. His firm designed and fabricated the metal facade systems which are the signature design elements for high profile buildings including a dozen of Frank Gehry’s projects: Herzog and de Meuron’s de Young Museum in San Francisco (featured above), the Federal Courthouse in Eugene and Cooper Union in New York City, both designed by Morphosis. William will guide us through the process of fabrication of these ingenious design elements, talk about the next generation of metals and metal facade systems and will explore the myriad option designers will have in the future.

NEW AIA ARIZONA WEBSITE
spider webCOMING SOONTo keep up with the times, we have been working on a new website that will give AIA Arizona a whole new look. We’ve designed our site with you in mind during the entire process. All of the information you’ll need will be in reach with two clicks of your mouse button.
You might be asking yourself, “What does this have to do with the Special State Conference Edition of Just the Facts?” Well, as you all know, the Design Awards are going to be presented on September 8, 2007 at AIA’s “Celebrate Architecture” event, but there is an unlucky handful of people that won’t be able to attend the gala. So, on Monday, September 10, 2007 our brand spankin’ new site will launch with the photos of our winners smack dab on the front page for all to see. Make sure to check it out and let us know what you think.
